These small growers have a similar philosophy as how to conduct their work in their vineyards and cellars, respecting and preserving the biodiversity of the environment, to produce small amounts of wine that is unique and pure.
It is increasing the number of small growers producing natural wines and choosing to work outside the context of the Appellation Contrôlée system in France, shunning rigid and inflexible legislations that do not always reflect the reality of nowadays wine business.
They are artisans of viticulture and winemaking and prefer to be recognized by their name rather then by the AOC to which they belong.
Axel Prüfer and Alain Allier are two such producers having their wines imported to the U.S. for the first time.
